I think this is the hardest thing I have ever done

If you've read my memoir Anything is Possible, you know I've done some pretty difficult things and I've been in some pretty gnarly situations. I think that this healing journey I'm on is the most difficult to date - or at least it is right up there near the top three.

You would think that it is would easier to deal with something in your own body-space because it is close to you. I think it is easier to deal with financial, relationship, or career troubles. They are outside your personal space and you can stand back from them, strategize, and implement actions.

With healing of the body, everything is affected - thinking, feeling, acting, energy - everything. Some days, I get very discouraged and wonder if I will recover from this or if this is my new normal. Fortunately, I can still do most of my work and I work from a home office which makes it easier for me. But I am nowhere near 100% of my usual operating capacity!

Please comment below if you've been through this sort of thing. How did you get through it? How did you keep from losing hope? No platitudes, please, and only comment if you've been through something similar not just as a witness to someone elese's journey. This isn't just for me. There are several people who read my blog and are going through healing journeys of their own.

Thanks - I am curious to read your responses, if any!

  1. Hi Krysta. I've had various chronic illnesses for a few decades. I relate very well to what you said - that everything is affected. It's very hard to crawl outside it for perspective. A few things I've learned - first of all, don't listen to anybody (including doctors) who tell you that it won't get better. They may not know what to do to make it better, but it can always get better at any moment. Maybe this afternoon!

Also, know that anxiety about what's happening makes everything worse. Try some chamomile or kava - and pranayam. Also (sorry if this is a platitude but it's key) Let go and let God.

It helped me a lot to find the root cause of my physical condition and then work from that level, rather than using band-aid type drugs. Also, acupuncture and Ayurveda can work wonders. I recommend a book called Ayurveda Lifestyle Wisdom by Acharya Shunya.

Yogananda's Energization Exercises also work wonders, even if you do them in a chair or lying down. And last but not least, here's an affirmation: "Infinite light within and without. I command the light to fill my brain. I command the light to fill my body. Every thought is full of light. Every cell is full of light. Darkness and illness disappear. Every thought is full of light. Every cell is full of light. I am light. I am light."

Love to you, dear one. I'm sending light!

    1. Thanks so much, Dakshina --- great wisdom here and "let go and let God" is definitely not a platitude!!!! I love the affirmation. I have been using some others from the Affirmations for Self-Healing book and I am sure they are helping as well. I very much appreciate your input....Love, Krysta

  3. Three decades of unresolved GI troubles, 31 as an endometriosis patient. Best medical answers have been a combination of using BOTH holistic and mainstream medical approaches. Emotionally, psychologically three things. One, use of mantras to reprogram myself since my early 30's. Helped a great deal with issues of anxiety and depression. Turned my life on it's head from my job to the end of my marriage but I am a lot happier. I could feel the resistance of negative energy when I started developing my personal mantras both at home and in the office. That is when I knew, hey if you stick with them, they do work. Mirror work has helped a lot. Looking yourself straight in the eye while telling yourself a new message is harder than most might think. Takes courage and persistence. Finally my two favorite sayings, "This too shall pass." and Churchill's famous quote: "Never, never, never give up." Bottom line is you have two choices, keep looking for answers or give up and die. The challenge is to choose the first each day when you open your eyes. Sorry if that is not terribly inspirational, but it will help you endure if you make that choice to keep looking for answers consciously each day.

  4. Thanks, Ellen, great information here. What's very interesting is I had just mentioned the "This too shall pass" to someone else last night. I appreciate your willingness to share not only for me but also for others I know who will see this. I am glad you found your answers that supported you in continuing to move forward! Blessings,
    Krysta

  5. I just finished reading your expansive blog from soup to nuts. (hm - there a life metaphor) I won't offer any advice, as you are the source of much love and inspiration to me. I know that your own Inner Wisdom is alive and well, and that your body's wisdom joins with your soul wisdom, from what I have read. When these two are in congruence, many miracles occur. I am looking forward eagerly to reading more and more. You heal others and by so doing, experience the best for you. Here is a wonderful listen for your background, if you like Gregorian Chant in 432Hz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-hrBhA4XkM

  6. Thanks for your sweet and kind words, Lizzie. They mean a lot to me. I have always loved Gregorian chant since I grew up singing and listening to it. There is something very soothing about it for me....I will go there and listen now. Thanks for following my journey.
