Trust

Last week I mentioned I was reading a book called Everyday Holiness. It's a book that explains the Jewish spiritual tradition of Mussar. You don't have to be Jewish to practice Mussar. In a nutshell, you choose 13 traits you want to embody such as trust, compassion, loving-kindness, etc...and then work on these a week at a time for a year. Mussar doesn't have to interfere with any other practices you might already have and actually complements them.

I decided to have a Mussar practice for the next year and chose as my first trait trust! If you have attended the Superconscious Living course I and others have taught at Ananda, you'll recognize this. It is accepting what comes as coming from God and handling it with as much grace as possible. It's knowing that Divine Mother is holding you even when it feels you've been abandoned. It's focusing on doing God's will whatever that might be.

I need more trust right now. It's easy to be trusting and accepting when things go our way. It is much more challenging to trust when things seem wonky and out-of-balance! Various issues have been placed on my plate right now. It is my job to trust the process and also to trust myself and my inner guidance. I'm looking forward to seeing how this quality of trust deepens over the next seven days.
